How to tell if your eyelids are sagging

Eyelid laxity, also known as upper eyelid skin laxity, is caused by loose and sagging eyelid skin. Loose eyelids can have a number of negative consequences, affecting the aesthetics of the eyes and the vision of the patient to varying degrees. The symptoms and self-assessment of eyelid laxity can determine whether or not you have lax eyelids. 1. Judging by the symptoms The eyelid skin is thin, inelastic, wrinkled, the outer canthus is sagging, the lid fissure is triangular, the intraorbital fat is bulging, and the upper lid is bloated. The upper eyelids feel heavy, resulting in a narrowing of the eyelid width or affecting vision when the eyes are open, and some have inverted eyelashes that overflow tears, which indicates laxity of the eyelids. 2, according to the self-measurement method Close your eyes and let your family members use their thumbs to follow the direction of the eyebrows and stuck in the position of the eyebrows to push and lift the skin of the eyebrows upwards, spreading the upper eyelid; in the vertical line of the pupil 7-8mm away from the eyelashes, mark a point with a water-based pen, release the lifting of the eyebrows and mark again; then observe the distance between the two marks to determine the width of the lax eyelids. For patients with sagging eyelids, they can be improved with blepharoplasty and brow cut. 1. Blepharoplasty: You can remove the excess loose skin under local anesthesia to flatten the skin and do double eyelid surgery at the same time, usually used for people who did not have double eyelids before. 2. Eyebrow cut: A surgical procedure to tighten the upper eyelid skin by making an incision in the eyebrow. This type of surgery is suitable for people who originally had heavy eyelids and have loose upper eyelid skin covering the heavy eyelids. The surgical incision for eyebrow cutting includes an incision above or below the eyebrow, with the incision close to the edge of the eyebrow.
