To determine whether there is a fracture after a foot sprain, there are three main aspects to determine: first, the history of trauma, if the history of injury is serious, such as a car accident or fall injury, the degree of injury to the foot is more serious, there is a possibility of fracture. Second, in addition to swelling, pain and dysfunction, the patient may have fracture if there are signs specific to the fracture, such as the foot is tilted to one side, inversion or valgus deformity, and when moving the ankle joint, a clicking sound is heard inside, or the foot has abnormal movement during activity, which is also called bone tenderness sign. Third, to determine whether there is a fracture, we need to take a front and side x-ray of the ankle joint or a front and oblique x-ray of the foot to make a clear diagnosis.
