Treatment of fractures

Various injuries are occurring more and more frequently in daily life, and the number of patients with fractures is gradually increasing. After a fracture occurs, the first thing many people think of is surgery. So, do fracture patients need surgery or not? Can the fracture be cured without surgery? Historically, there have been many examples of non-surgical treatment of fractures using traditional treatment methods that have led to very satisfactory results. The treatment of fractures can be broadly divided into surgical and non-surgical methods. The advantages of non-surgical treatment of fractures are that it is simple and convenient, less painful for the patient, and much less expensive. Because there is no surgery, the soft tissues and periosteum at the fracture site are not cut open, and the blood supply on which the bone tissue depends for its own repair is not further damaged, the speed and ability of fracture healing is significantly better. Various fractures, which vary greatly in complexity, have correspondingly different treatment strategies and methods. Some simple, simple fractures without obvious dislocation, like crack fractures and green branch fractures, do not require surgery; other serious, complex, multiple fractures, which cannot be satisfactorily repositioned without surgical incision and affect function, and fractures with combined damage to important organ tissues such as vascular nerves, which require surgical intervention treatment of the damaged vascular nerves, etc., are operated together with the fracture The fracture is treated together. In between, there are some less complicated fractures that can be treated by TCM with closed reduction and internal and external application of traditional Chinese medicine. In fact, this part of fracture in the middle “zone” accounts for a large proportion in clinical practice. In our orthopaedic department, we have accumulated rich experience in the treatment of fractures by closed reduction, such as clavicle fracture and humeral surgical neck fracture of shoulder, humeral stem fracture of upper arm, supracondylar fracture of elbow, ulnar radius fracture of forearm, metacarpal fracture of hand, intertrochanteric fracture of lower limb, ankle fracture and spine fracture, etc. Most of them can be repositioned by closed reduction or instrumentation. Most of the fractures can be repositioned by closed manipulation or instrumentation to achieve anatomical or functional repositioning. At the same time, our self-developed “blood ointment” topical Chinese medicine has a good effect on activating blood and promoting healing for most of the fractures and soft tissue injuries, which can also achieve a better treatment effect.
