Nasopharyngeal cancer is a malignant tumor occurring in the nasopharynx, which is the most common malignant tumor in otorhinolaryngology, and its symptoms are mainly manifested in the following aspects: 1. Symptoms of primary cancer: usually early symptoms, such as: (1) blood in the nose or nasal bleeding: the most common early symptom, which is manifested as the patient coughing up and sucking out phlegm with blood from the throat, or finding blood, small blood clots or bloody secretions in the nose, mostly in the morning or after waking up (2) Tinnitus: stuffy feeling in the ear and hearing loss: due to tumor infiltration, compression of pharyngeal orifice or damage to auditory nerve; (3) Nasal congestion: mostly one side of nasal congestion, when the tumor increases, it can cause bilateral nasal congestion; (4) Headache: often manifested as migraine, generally intermittent, may develop into persistent. 2.Ocular symptoms: When tumor invades orbit and intraocular nerve, it may cause visual impairment, visual field defect, diplopia (double vision), protrusion of eye and limitation of movement, etc., which are mostly symptoms in late stage. 3.Symptoms of invasion of brain nerves: Nasopharyngeal cancer can invade many pairs of brain nerves and cause corresponding symptoms, such as persistent headache, trigeminal neuralgia, numbness of the affected side, diplopia, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, eye fixation or blindness, etc. 4.The occurrence of lymph node metastasis in the neck: manifested as swollen, hard and painless lymph nodes in the neck, which can be moved in the early stage, but cannot be moved in the late stage due to adhesion with skin or surrounding tissues. 5.Distant metastasis and cachexia: tumor cells can metastasize to various parts of the body, but bone, lung and liver are the most common; eventually patients will lose their lives due to systemic organ failure or sudden hemorrhage. Nasopharyngeal cancer is a tumor with higher malignant degree. Residents with family history of nasopharyngeal cancer or residents in Guangdong and Fujian areas of China should be alert to the occurrence of early symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer.
