The free screening for “two cancers” in 2014 is about to start. Women aged 35 to 64 with Beijing residence should call 12320 for free consultation. Breast cancer and cervical cancer are malignant tumors that pose a serious threat to women’s health. Breast cancer is now the first malignant tumor among women in Beijing, and cervical cancer is the tenth. Early stage breast cancer is treated very well, with a 5-year survival rate of over 90% and a 10-year survival rate of 80%. Since 2008, the city started the pilot free screening for breast and cervical cancer earlier in the country, and rolled it out in 2009. Starting from this year, the city will provide screening and diagnostic services for women throughout the year according to the technical standards of “two cancers” screening, relatively fixed screening institutions and medical personnel, and has established a supervisory and evaluation mechanism to regularly assess the effectiveness of “two cancers” screening.
