What causes adults to cough for a month?

Adults who have had a cough for a month may have a post-infection cough. Coughs are divided into acute, subacute, and chronic coughs, and subacute coughs are those that last between 3 and 8 weeks. If the patient has a history of upper respiratory tract infection and the cough has persisted for more than a month, post-infection cough should be considered. Other diseases should also be ruled out, such as tuberculosis and lung cancer, which can also cause chronic or subacute cough. Gastroesophageal reflux and cough variant asthma are also among the diseases to be considered, as well as chronic eosinophilic bronchitis, which may also cause subacute cough. Therefore, it is recommended to consult a regular hospital for appropriate tests to clarify the diagnosis before giving the appropriate treatment.
