A recent study published in the journal Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery evaluated skin reactions induced by antiepileptic drugs. The study evaluated case data from 3,793 patients with epilepsy. The results found that skin reactions occurred in 3.61% of patients; of these, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, and oxcarbazepine caused a higher incidence of skin reactions than valproic acid, levetiracetam, and topiramate at 3.80%, 11.11%, and 8.92%, respectively; women (4.97%) were more likely to experience skin reactions than men (2.76%).
