Is general anesthesia for pituitary tumor surgery

Pituitary tumor surgery needs to be performed under general anesthesia because nowadays this surgery is often performed under a scope and microscope. Pituitary tumors are closely related to many key tissues around them, including the optic nerve, multiple blood vessels, internal carotid artery and other parts of the blood vessels, so the patient must not move during the surgery, otherwise there will be unpredictable consequences of damage to these parts. During the surgery, the separation of tissues will cause pain, which is not tolerated by the patient without general anesthesia, especially because the surgery will cause some irritation to the dura when scratching the tumor. Patients currently need to be under general anesthesia during surgery regardless of the department they are in, such as ear, nose and throat or neurosurgery, especially if they are under craniotomy.
