The need for ongoing rehabilitation after a stroke

After rehabilitation, about 60% of stroke patients can achieve self-care of daily living activities by the end of the first year, 20% need some help, 15% need more help, and only 5% need all help. It is generally believed that recovery of motor function in stroke patients with hemiplegia can begin within a few days of onset, with maximum recovery occurring within 1 to 3 months, slowing down after 3 months, and culminating in 90% of patients after 6 months. Others believe that recovery of stroke patients is meaningless after six months and that further exercise of patients will not restore more physical function. This understanding is wrong and delays timely and adequate rehabilitation of many patients. In fact, we found in the clinic that many patients after 1 year of stroke, after receiving the combination of Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation treatment, the body function still further improved, and if not adhere to the rehabilitation exercise, has recovered the function often will be back. Recommendations: 1. Do not give up rehabilitation treatment easily. With further rehabilitation, symptoms such as pain and numbness will also be relieved to some extent. 2. Actively treat underlying diseases such as hypertension to prevent recurrence of stroke. If conditions permit, hospitalization should be done at least 1-2 times a year to condition the body to the best health state. 3.Keep emotional stability, optimism, scientific diet and regular life.
