Self-massage for tennis elbow

Tennis elbow, also known as humeral epicondylitis, can be divided into two types of injuries: acute and chronic. 1, acute injury: middle-aged and elderly people are often injured when engaging in tennis and table tennis, commonly due to excessive force or training when “backhanding the ball”, resulting in strain injuries at the starting point of the muscle. 2, chronic injury: some inappropriate movements in daily life, such as repeated rotation of the forearm or wrist flexion and extension movement is too heavy, can also cause tennis elbow. When you have tennis elbow, you will have pain on the outside of the elbow joint, and the pain will develop continuously and progressively. The pain may be sore or tingling, and some patients may have pain radiating to the forearm and wrist or upper extremity. In some patients, the pain increases when lifting, pulling, or carrying heavy objects, and often causes weakness in the affected arm, even when holding objects to the ground. Patients cannot wring towels or sweep the floor. There are obvious pressure points on the outside of the affected elbow, and there may be mild local swelling. The following are some simple and easy to learn self-massage method: 1, point rubbing points (1) point rubbing Quchi point (lateral palm flexion elbow, in the depression of the outer end of the transverse elbow), Hegu point (located in the back of the hand, between the first and second metacarpal bones, the midpoint of the radial side of the second metacarpal bone. The easy way to get the point is to place the thumb joint of one hand on the web edge between the thumb and index finger of the other hand, under the tip of the thumb). Method: Use the end of the thumb of the healthy hand to press the Quchi point and the Hegu point on the affected upper limb to feel soreness and swelling, and then rub the two points in a clockwise direction for about 1 minute each. Therapeutic effect: Quchi point and Hegu point are powerful points to clear heat and relieve pain throughout the body, often point rubbing, in addition to relieving local and general pain, but also the role of strengthening the body. (2) Point rubbing hand Sanli point (located on the back of the forearm on the radial side, Yangxi and Quchi line, two inches below the Quchi point). Note: Yangxi: on the radial side of the transverse wrist dorsum, when the thumb is stretched upward, in the depression between the short extensor thumb tendon and the long extensor thumb tendon. METHOD: Use the thumb end of the healthy hand to press the hand Sanli point on the affected upper extremity to feel soreness and swelling, then tap and rub in a clockwise direction for about 1 minute. Therapeutic effect: The Hand San Li point is one of the most effective points for the treatment of tennis elbow. In addition, the Hand San Li point is similar to the Foot San Li point in that it is a good tonic for qi and blood, only slightly weaker. (3) Point rubbing the elbow s point (located at the elbow joint, in the depression of the humerus outer margin space) and the A-Yi point (the part of the forearm where the pain appears when pressed). Method: Press and hold these two points with the thumb end of the healthy hand. Patients with tennis elbow can usually find pressure points at the elbow s point, and the treatment point is also located here. The pressure on the ayurvedic point is best when you feel soreness. 2, point rubbing humeral epicondyle method: with the thumb end of the healthy side of the hand to press the affected side of the humeral epicondyle most pain (tennis elbow patients are generally the most painful parts of the humeral epicondyle), in order to have a soreness (tolerable) is good, and then point rubbing clockwise direction for about 3 minutes. 3, relax the forearm muscles method: the healthy side of the hand with take method or kneading method to relax the entire forearm muscles. Mainly for the subcutaneous and periosteal muscle layer. Therapeutic effect: to make the originally spastic muscles fully relaxed, promote blood circulation, and loosen the tissues to release the nerves that are stuck, so as to achieve the purpose of relieving pain. 4.Passive movement of the affected limb: relax the affected limb completely, hold the wrist on the affected side with the healthy hand, and then drive the affected hand to do left and right rotation and back and forth flexion and extension movements. Note that the strength should be gentle and even, not too strong, too fast, the amplitude can be larger. Operate for 3 minutes each. Therapeutic effect: the passive movement of the affected limb is completely different from the active movement, which is carried out under complete relaxation and is therefore conducive to the reduction of inflammation. 5, rub the affected area method: with the palm root or large fissure from the top down quickly rub forearm muscles for about half a minute, to have a warm feeling is appropriate. Health advice: 1, in the early stage of tennis elbow, patients should pay attention to rest, avoid lifting and carrying heavy objects, and minimize elbow joint activities. 2, strive for a one-time cure at the beginning, especially during the treatment period, all movements that can cause pain should be absolutely prohibited, otherwise it is easy to relapse. 3, usually pay attention to exercise, activities of the upper limb joints, strengthen muscle strength, help prevent the occurrence of the disease.
