What causes coughing and breathlessness?

Coughing with a bit of shortness of breath may be caused by the following: First, coughing more frequently, leading to wheezing bronchitis, airway spasm and thus coughing with shortness of breath. Second, if the cough is caused by pleural effusion or pneumothorax, it is also often seen to be accompanied by dyspnea, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Patients with asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema can also cause coughing and shortness of breath. Fourth, cardiovascular causes, such as heart failure and pericardial effusion, also need to be ruled out. If the cough and shortness of breath is obvious, it is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination of chest CT, lung function, allergens, ECG, cardiac ultrasound, BNP, etc. to guide the use of medication after a clear diagnosis.
