How to treat pediatric anorexia

Anorexia refers to a common condition in which children do not crave food for a long time, lose their appetite, or even refuse to eat. In the past three months, I have conducted a preliminary follow-up survey of outpatients with “anorexia” as the main complaint. The etiology and factors of anorexia in children in the current situation where only one child prevails were explored to guide the clinical practice of proper feeding and promote healthy growth of children. The preliminary findings are now analyzed from the following aspects. 1, pseudo-anorexia and anorexia I found that a small number of children with “anorexia” as the main complaint were normal eaters, called pseudo-anorexia. This may be related to the over-emphasis and coddling of only children by their parents, each child has different likes and dislikes of food, different amounts of food, different food utilization rates, as long as the child’s height and weight growth is normal, it can not be considered a real anorexia. If you ask your child to eat excessively for a long time, it will damage the spleen and stomach, and eventually anorexia will occur. 2, other diseases caused by low appetite and anorexia Due to certain disease factors affecting the cerebral cortex and digestive function, so that the excitability of the satiety center increased, gastrointestinal digestive enzymes and digestive juices decreased and there is a short-term or longer period of low appetite. These low appetite due to external sensation or certain chronic diseases are not included in the scope of this disease. With the improvement of the primary disease, the symptoms of low appetite will also improve or disappear. We advocate early treatment of the primary disease and follow the principle of “treating the disease before it occurs” in Chinese medicine to prevent anorexia. 3, partiality and anorexia In the survey, we also found that some children prefer certain vegetables, meat, eggs and milk, while they eat less or refuse to eat food that does not meet their taste. This is partiality rather than anorexia, but long-term partiality is likely to cause imbalance of nutrients and may develop into anorexia, so we should prevent the problem before it happens and correct the bad habits such as partiality. 4.Etiology of anorexia The etiology of anorexia varies from one age group to another. In the survey of anorexic children, 1-3 years old, anorexia caused by improper feeding is the most common, in this age, the function of the digestive system of children is not very perfect, coupled with feeding forced to eat, not regular feeding, etc., affect the appetite of children prone to anorexia. At this stage, attention should be paid to developing good eating habits, paying attention to the color, aroma and nutrition of the diet, in order to stimulate the feeding center of the brain, so that the digestive tract and digestive glands can enter the best state to reduce the occurrence of anorexia. 4-6 years old children with anorexia caused by paranoia, eating more cold and high-fat, high-calorie foods are more common. In this period, we should play the role of adult role model, balanced diet, avoid the above-mentioned non-diet habits to ensure the normal development of children. 7-14 years old children with anorexia caused by psychological factors account for a large proportion, which can be seen with the growth of the age of anorexia caused by this factor has a rising trend, which may be related to the gradual acceleration of the pace of society, due to family events and various competitive pressure from society and school, some children’s emotions have This may be related to the fact that as the pace of society gradually accelerates, due to family events and various competitive pressures from society and school, some children’s emotions may change, making the excitability of the satiety center higher or relatively higher, causing a decrease in gastrointestinal digestive juices and low gastric muscle tone and anorexia. Therefore, families, schools and society should pay attention to children’s emotional changes and mental health problems, and it is imperative to create a harmonious, comfortable and healthy living environment for children.
