  Sixty percent of epilepsy patients are not effectively treated Yesterday was the International Day of Care against Epilepsy, the city’s second People’s Hospital held the “International Day of Care against Epilepsy patient exchange”. The reporter learned from the venue that there are about 70,000 epilepsy patients in Shenzhen, 60% of whom have not been effectively treated.  It is understood that the exchange meeting was organized by the Epilepsy Treatment Center of Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital under the call and guidance of China Anti-Epilepsy Association, Guangdong Anti-Epilepsy Association and Shenzhen Anti-Epilepsy Association, which was established on June 20, 2013 and employed famous experts in China as consultants. According to statistics, there are about 9 million epilepsy patients in China, of which 5 to 6 million are active epilepsy patients, and about 400,000 new epilepsy patients are added every year, said Ren Lijie, chief physician of the hospital’s neurology department.
