What should I do if I have something stuck in my nose?

When something that is not in the nasal cavity enters the nasal cavity, it is called a foreign body in the nasal cavity. There are many reasons for nasal foreign body, such as: some children put some small toys, beans, peanuts, melons, beads and other small things into the nasal cavity; small insects fly or crawl into the nasal cavity; coughing, vomiting, food residue back into the nasal cavity and so on. In addition, when nasal trauma occurs, foreign objects enter the nasal cavity through the wound, which can cause nasal foreign bodies. Some children after preschool age are curious and are particularly likely to stuff such and such small objects into their nasal cavity to play with them, therefore, the incidence of nasal foreign bodies is higher in this age group. When something is stuffed in the nose, there will be a blocked nose or sticky yellow nasal mucus, and sometimes there will be a foul-smelling bloody sticky nasal mucus. Some foreign bodies, such as beans, paper balls and rubber, will expand in size after absorbing water, which can lead to nasal disinflation in a relatively short time. Long-term presence of nasal foreign bodies in the nasal cavity can cause nasal inflammation, nose bleeding and deeper infection causing sinusitis and other diseases. Sometimes the foreign body can also move around in the nasal cavity, which should not be ignored. Especially when the foreign body falls from the nasal cavity to the mouth, the child is coughing, the foreign body may choke into the trachea, affecting breathing, which may be life-threatening and very dangerous. Since young children cannot tell how the foreign body came to be, parents should pay more attention to their children, if they find that the child has nasal blockage on one side, especially if there is purulent, smelly nasal discharge, or painful sensation when blowing the nose. It is important to pay attention to whether there is a foreign body in the nasal cavity. Parents should not panic if there is a foreign body, do not just use something to pull out, otherwise not only can not take out the foreign body, but also push the foreign body deeper, the more difficult to take out. If the child can blow his nose, you can tell him to blow his nose hard, so that small and light foreign bodies may be blown out. If it is a larger foreign body in the nasal cavity or a nasal foreign body caused by trauma, you must go to the hospital and let the doctor remove it with special tools.
