Half a century ago, cancer was still an unfamiliar word to Chinese people. However, in this short period of 50 years, cancer has become one of the diseases most closely related to people, ranking among the “top three” in terms of morbidity and mortality. Among the 260-odd members of the cancer family, how should they be ranked in terms of incidence, treatment and severity of the disease? In the next 30 years, the number of lung cancer deaths in China will be as high as 18 million. The most common cancer in China: lung cancer. This is not an alarmist statement. The Harvard School of Public Health has reported, based on available data and conditions in China, that the number of lung cancer deaths in China will be as high as 18 million in the next 30 years, which means that one person will die from lung cancer every minute. “But actually, lung cancer is one of the most preventable cancers.” Staying away from tobacco, ventilating your home often, wearing a mask outside, driving less, being exposed to less kitchen fumes, and using environmentally friendly renovation materials can all keep lung cancer away in the first place. The main reason why lung cancer has such a high mortality rate is that nearly 80% of patients are diagnosed only at an advanced stage in clinical practice. The most likely cancer for children: leukemia. Inbred marriage and decoration pollution are the main triggers for children to develop “leukemia” prematurely, in addition, “little fat dun”, parents who smoke and often drive are also more likely to fall into the quagmire of leukemia. However, childhood tumors such as leukemia can definitely be prevented and treated. The director of the blood center of Beijing Children’s Hospital, Professor Wu Minyuan, pointed out that the long-term survival rate of acute lymphoblastic leukemia can reach more than 80%. The most man-specific cancer: prostate cancer. In Europe and the United States, the incidence and death rate of prostate cancer are among the highest. In China, it has been catching up with Europe and the United States over the years. This is mainly due to the improvement of people’s lives in the last 20 years, the love of high-fat diet and the aging of the population. However, with early detection, the cure rate of prostate cancer can reach about 95%. Therefore, it is recommended that men must have regular prostate-specific antigen tests after the age of 50. The most feminine cancer: breast cancer. It is not difficult to keep away from breast cancer, but you should just have a plan from infancy. Never be overweight in infancy, do not over-nutrition in childhood, increase outdoor physical activities in adolescence, get married at the right time in adolescence, have regular check-ups in middle age, and use estrogen carefully in menopause. The main reason why cancer is scary is because we don’t know its causative factors The most avoidable cancer: uterine cancer. Reasonable and healthy eating habits, active participation in physical exercise and avoidance of obesity are the most effective, which may avoid 70% of uterine cancers (including endometrial and cervical cancers). In addition, esophageal cancer and oral cancer are close behind in the “most avoidable cancers”. The earliest cancer that could be eliminated: cervical cancer. The main reason why cancer is scary is that the cause is not known. But cervical cancer has made a breakthrough in this area. We all now know that the human papilloma virus is the most direct cause of this cancer. And because of this, since the first cervical cancer vaccine was released in 2006, it has given people the first glimpse of overcoming cancer. The best cancer to treat: breast cancer. Breast cancer has become one of the diseases that have seen the most advances in treatment technology. Screening is the first hurdle in sniping breast cancer. The ‘hand in hand’ of surgery, medical treatment, radiotherapy and targeted therapy has not only enabled the cure rate of early stage breast cancer to reach over 90%, but also allowed patients with mid to late stage breast cancer to live long as usual. The mildest cancer: thyroid cancer. Most thyroid cancers have low malignancy, slow progression and ideal treatment effect, and the earlier the treatment, the better the effect. Thyroid cancer is closely related to high estrogen level in the body, mental stress and exposure to X-rays and other radioactive substances. The most diet-related cancer: digestive tract cancer. High-fat and high-protein diet brings colon cancer; vitamin C deficiency, love of sauerkraut and eating too hot lead to the high incidence of esophageal cancer; eating too salty and too much is the culprit of stomach cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that eating seven minutes full, diversifying food, eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat is always the truth of cancer prevention. The places that do not get cancer: nails and hair. Other than that, all other organs in the human body can be related to cancer. However, there are still areas that are rarely affected by disasters. For example, tonsil cancer, lip cancer, anal cancer, mesothelioma, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, adrenal cancer and other diseases are all under 0.1/100,000. The most difficult cancer to treat: pancreatic cancer. “Pancreatic cancer is known as the ‘king of cancers’.” Pancreatic cancer has a special location, which makes it difficult to detect early symptoms, and most patients are already in advanced stage when they are diagnosed, making surgical removal difficult, risky and relatively expensive. Moreover, the pancreas is surrounded by rich blood vessels, located in a major traffic route and affecting as many as five or six organs, which is very tricky indeed. The most complicated cancer: lymphoma. In 2009, the death of Luo Jing and young actress Li Yu made people more and more aware of lymphoma. In fact, although it is the most typed cancer, it is not as scary as people think. Chemotherapy has transformed some lymphomas from the most malignant tumors in the past to those that are now more than 90% curable. In addition, it can be well prevented if you guard against renovation pollution, relieve mental stress, maintain body weight, and try to avoid respiratory and oral infections. The cancer with the most Chinese characteristics: liver cancer. This is firstly because China ranks first in the world in terms of hepatitis B patients, which of course directly causes China’s liver cancer patients to top the global list. There are four major causative factors for liver cancer, namely viral hepatitis, aflatoxin, drinking contaminated water and alcohol and tobacco abuse. In response to this, the state has formulated the primary prevention policy of liver cancer: first, change the water, do not eat ditch water, eat deep well water, eat tap water; second, prevent mold, do not eat moldy corn; third, vaccination. The city with the highest incidence of cancer in China: Shanghai. According to statistics, the incidence rate of cancer in Shanghai doubled in 1980 compared with 1963, exceeding Beijing and Tianjin by 25%, making it the first city in China. According to the cancer surveillance data of Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the cancer incidence rate of women in Shanghai has nearly doubled compared to 20 years ago, and one out of every 100 women in Shanghai is a cancer patient, which is also much higher than other cities in China. This is mainly because the more developed the city is, the more serious the environmental pollution may be, the more irregular people’s life is, and the more stressful it is, so it is inevitable that the cancer incidence rate will climb higher and higher.
