It takes at least 3-6 months for a fracture to recover from stiffness, and fractures that have been externally fixed for too long can lead to joint stiffness. Sometimes negligent rehabilitation of patients with incisional internal fixation can also lead to stiffness of the adjacent joints after surgery. Therefore, rehabilitation training, even in conjunction with release surgery, is required for gradual recovery. In the process of training, the range of motion should be gradually increased and the adhesions should be loosened. Violent rehabilitation should not be used, otherwise it may lead to local swelling, pain, fracture displacement, or even re-fracture, which is extremely detrimental to the patient’s recovery. In most cases, it takes more than three months for the patient’s stiffness symptoms to gradually ease or even disappear completely. In some cases, the stiffness is more severe and it takes about six months to recover.
