Treatment of hives in infants

The treatments for infantile urticaria include avoidance of triggering factors, antihistamine treatment, drugs that inhibit the release of mediators from mast cells, and other drug treatments.
1. Avoiding triggering factors: searching for and removing the causes of the disease, various triggering and aggravating factors should be avoided as much as possible, such as infections, food and drug allergies, and so on.
2. Antihistamine treatment:
(1) First-generation antihistamines: such as Benadryl, the therapeutic efficacy is accurate, but there is a central sedative effect.
(2) The second generation of antihistamines: such as cetirizine, fexofenadine, etc., no central sedative effect or lower sedative effect, for the treatment of urticaria first-line drugs.
3. Drugs that inhibit the release of mediators from mast cells: ketotifen is a strong mast cell stabilizer, which can stabilize the mast cell membrane and inhibit the release of mediators from mast cells.
4. Other medications: children with widespread rash, rapid onset, and respiratory distress should be treated with glucocorticoids or epinephrine as appropriate.
When urticaria occurs in infants, parents should take them to the hospital in time, and should standardize the treatment under the guidance of doctors.
