Small bowel injury is a break in the bowel caused by a variety of traumatic factors, including closed, open and medical origin, tumours and other factors. The onset is acute and the incidence is gender-neutral. It is a traumatic disease of the small intestine, but can also be caused by other factors such as radiation and drugs.
