Submammary pain can be of musculoskeletal origin, such as chest wall pain, spinal or paraspinal problems, scarring from trauma or previous biopsies, or it can be associated with some physical conditions, such as biliary disease, lung disease, oesophageal disease or heart disease. Pain under the breast can be a lesion of the heart, lungs, or thoracic organs, and it can also be a lesion of the abdominal organs such as the stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, liver, or kidneys that triggers referred pain.
