How to relieve a tickling throat that keeps coughing

Cough with itchy throat is commonly seen in TCM as a cough caused by wind-cold attacking the lung. You can also use oral Chinese medicine, such as Tongxuan lung pills, Sanjiao tablets and Suhuang cough capsules to warm cold phlegm. A decoction of 10 grams of ginger, 10 grams of white onion and 15 grams of peel can also be taken with water as a tea substitute to dispel wind and cold, stop coughing and resolve phlegm. If the cough is more intense and dry without phlegm, cough suppressants such as codeine and dextromethorphan can be used. If there is sputum, expectorant drugs can be given for symptomatic treatment, such as bromhexine hydrochloride, aminoglutethimide hydrochloride, acetylcysteine, etc. If there are obvious dry and wet rales on auscultation in both lungs, antibiotic drugs can be given to control intrapulmonary infection, such as penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides and quinolones.
