Glans ulcers are not necessarily STDs and may be caused by STDs, such as syphilis and soft chancre, or by other conditions, such as glans phimosis, fixed drug rash, and leukoaraiosis.
Glans ulcers may be caused by STDs, such as syphilis and soft chancre. The former is caused by infection with the spirochete syphilis and the latter is caused by infection with the bacterium Haemophilus ducreyi, both of which are sexually transmitted diseases, and both of which can manifest themselves as glans ulcers, singly or in multiple episodes, with syphilis also manifesting itself in the form of a hard chancre.
Glans ulcers, which may or may not be STDs, are also present, as in the case of glans circumcision, fixed drug rash, and leukoaraiosis. These diseases are associated with pathogens, drugs or other causes, none of which are transmitted sexually.
Ulcers on the glans are recommended to go to the dermatologic and venereal diseases department of the hospital in time.
