The duration of treatment for chondromalacia patellae is related to the degree of patellar tenderness. In mild cases, it takes about 2-4 weeks to recover, while in severe cases, the recovery time is related to the patient’s physical condition, but longer than in mild cases. Chondromalacia patella is one of the common diseases of the knee joint, which is caused by the wear and tear of the knee cartilage and degeneration, resulting in a series of clinical symptoms, mainly pain around the knee joint, weakness, and interlocking phenomenon when walking. Mild cases usually recover after 2-4 weeks of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic medication, together with cartilage nourishing drugs. Patients with chondromalacia patella can be treated with local physiotherapy, such as hot compresses and medium-frequency pulse therapy, to promote the improvement of the disease. In addition, the rehabilitation of the disease is based on the functional exercise of the knee joint. Proper quadriceps exercise can effectively prevent the softening of the patella again and also promote its recovery.
