When is the fetus head down

The normal fetal position is cephalic and the fetus should be head down after 4 months of pregnancy, especially during 32-34 weeks of pregnancy. 30 weeks later, the fetal position is basically fixed and most of the fetuses will turn to cephalic position naturally. In the middle of pregnancy, the amount of amniotic fluid is high and the size of the fetus is relatively small, so the fetal position is not fixed during this period. As the gestational week progresses, especially after 30 weeks of pregnancy, the fetal volume will increase, the relative amniotic fluid volume will gradually decrease, the fetus will have less space to move and the position will be relatively fixed. The fetus will be in cephalic position under the influence of fetal gravity. A small number of fetuses are in breech position, which can be corrected between 30 and 32 weeks of pregnancy under the guidance of the doctor, and after 34 weeks most of the fetuses can be placed head down. If the fetal head still does not face downward at the end of pregnancy, the fetal position will be considered malpositioned and will need to be repositioned by the doctor, and if necessary, a cesarean section will be performed to terminate the pregnancy. During pregnancy, pregnant women should pay more attention to rest, avoid overexertion and strenuous exercise, and have regular maternity checkups and screening examinations at all times. If the fetus is not in head position after 30 weeks of pregnancy, fetal position can be corrected under the guidance of a doctor.
