The head of the patient’s bed should be elevated 15-30° after surgery to prevent reflux: since the esophageal stent cannot contract by itself after placement, it may cause reflux esophagitis due to reflux of gastric contents, followed by complications such as esophageal ulcer/hemorrhage and aspiration pneumonia. 2.Patients should not eat cold food after surgery; 3.Eat warm liquid or semi-liquid without dregs after 1 hour after surgery; 4.Eat soft food with less dregs 4 hours after surgery; 5.Eat in sitting or semi-sitting position, so that food can pass through the stenosis smoothly under gravity and peristalsis of the esophagus; 6.Eat slowly and chew carefully, do not “gobble” type of food; 7.Eat upright for more than 30 min after meal. 7.Stay upright for more than 30 min after eating and avoid physical work to reduce the chance of acid reflux. 8.Drink warm water after eating to flush the food attached to the stent to prevent the esophagus from being obstructed by food, which may cause psychological doubts to the patient’s treatment; 9.Forbid to eat cold food, such as popsicles and other cold drinks to prevent the stent from contracting and deforming when it is cold; 10.Avoid rough and hard food; 11.Avoid spicy, fried, coffee, strong tea and other stimulating foods and drinks to prevent the increase of gastric acid secretion; 12.Review regularly Gastroscopy or esophageal X-ray imaging to observe the patency of the esophagus.
