Management of traumatic tympanic membrane perforation

Trauma-induced tympanic membrane perforation requires otoscopy and audiometry! If necessary, a temporal bone CT is needed to rule out temporal bone fractures, etc.! For small or medium sized tympanic membrane perforations, the probability that they will heal on their own in three months is 90%! Large perforations or those that are too close to the edge are more difficult to grow on their own and most require surgery to repair the eardrum if it does not heal in three months or six months. Remember not to get any water in your ear and don’t order any medication (unless there is an infection)! Keep it dry! Regularly check in the hospital to observe the recovery of the eardrum!
