Pityriasis rosea is not an STD; pityriasis rosea is an inflammatory skin disease. Pityriasis rosea is not contagious and is not a sexually transmitted disease. The cause of pityriasis rosea is not yet clear, and it may be an inflammatory skin disease related to viral infection, cellular immunity, immunocompromise, psychiatric factors, and pharmacologic factors. The skin damage of pityriasis rosea is characterized by rose-colored, furfuraceous scaly macules and papules, accompanied by itching, mostly on the trunk and proximal extremities. It usually fades on its own in 6 to 8 weeks without scarring. In order to control the symptoms of pityriasis rosea and shorten the course of the disease, medication can be taken, specific should be standardized under the guidance of a doctor.
