How long does it take to recover from a broken hand?

Generally, it takes about 3 months for a palm fracture to heal, and the specific healing time is related to the patient’s age. In most cases, the palm fracture is fixed in a plaster cast after manipulation, usually for 4-6 weeks, and if the clinical healing criteria are met after review, the cast can be removed and functional training can be performed to promote fracture recovery. With early and reasonable braking, bony healing can be achieved in most cases about 3 months after the palm fracture. If the patient is younger, such as a child, in the skeletal development stage, the recovery time after a palm fracture is therefore relatively short, most not exceeding 3 months. In addition, it may take another 6-12 months after the fracture heals for the bone scab to remodel and shape. After a palm fracture, it is recommended to elevate the affected limb to promote blood flow, and to eat more protein-rich foods such as meat and milk.
