Does microinvasion of breast cancer in situ metastasize?

Microinvasion of breast cancer in situ has the possibility of metastasis.

Microinvasive breast cancer in situ means that the cancer cells are still confined to the epithelial layer, but there is localized infiltration, usually the diameter is less than five millimeters, and there is no infiltration of blood vessels. If the patient is found to have breast cancer in situ and timely adopts such treatments as surgery or radiotherapy, the condition can be effectively controlled, and most of the patients will not have metastasis.

However, if timely treatment is not carried out, the cancer cells will continue to multiply and proliferate, and invade the surrounding tissues, blood vessels and lymph, etc. In the later stage, the cancer cells may undergo systemic metastasis and proliferation, which will aggravate the condition and make the treatment more difficult.

It is recommended to consult doctor in time and actively cooperate with doctor in order to prolong the survival period and improve the prognosis of microinvasive breast cancer in situ.
