Is cervical disease contagious?

Some cervical diseases are contagious and are mainly transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Cervical disease is a collective term for diseases that occur in the cervix, including inflammation, injury and tumours. Some of these cervicitis are contagious and related to the type of pathogens, such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, herpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus, Mycoplasma genitalium and trichomonas, and can be transmitted to sexual partners through sexual intercourse. Therefore, sexual intercourse should be avoided during treatment of cervicitis and sexual partners should also be checked and clarified for simultaneous treatment.
