Common Phenomena of Food Poisoning

The most common phenomenon of food poisoning is gastrointestinal reactions, usually with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms. If the vomiting and diarrhea are severe, there will also be water-electrolyte imbalance, low potassium, low sodium and thus general weakness, as well as a decrease in muscle strength of the limbs. In addition, if dehydration is severe, symptoms such as sunken eyes and dry skin may occur. If the toxin affects the central nervous system after food poisoning, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting may occur in mild cases, and in severe cases, uncoordinated arms and legs, poor mental concentration or poor mental performance, coma or even central respiratory depression, resulting in life-threatening conditions. In case of food poisoning, the toxins affect the respiratory system, leading to laryngeal edema or pulmonary edema and respiratory distress. If it causes a systemic allergic reaction, a generalized wind-like urticaria may appear.
