The patient usually needs 6-8 weeks to get out of bed after surgery for intertrochanteric fracture, specifically because the patient needs to stay in bed after surgery for intertrochanteric fracture. After healing, the patient can walk with partial weight bearing with the help of crutches, but the fracture end is not completely solid and cannot be completely weight bearing. 8-12 weeks later, the fracture will gradually heal completely and the X-ray will show that the fracture line is completely gone and the fracture end is free of pain and swelling, then the patient can abandon the crutches and walk with normal weight bearing. However, the patient should not engage in strenuous exercise for three months to six months after surgery, otherwise the fracture may reoccur and affect the patient’s recovery.
