Young people do not take high blood pressure seriously, the consequences are very serious!

Hypertension is very widespread and can have serious consequences if not controlled carefully. Especially young people, who think they are young and have no problem with elevated blood pressure, do not take it seriously, or some young people refuse to take medication prematurely if they are worried that it will not be withdrawn. Little do they know that blood pressure is not taken seriously, it can cause damage to the heart, brain, kidneys and other systemic organs, and the consequences should not be ignored.

Case: A young patient with cerebral hemorrhage. This is the third case of a young patient with acute cerebral hemorrhage who came for rehabilitation treatment received by the Hypertension-Rehabilitation Department in the past three months. The patient was 35 years old and had a history of hypertension for more than 10 years, but because he was young, he did not pay attention to it and refused to take antihypertensive medication because he thought it was too troublesome. Although he was rescued from death, he still has cognitive dysfunction, complete paralysis of the left upper and lower limbs, or “hemiplegia” as the saying goes, and cannot take care of himself, and the biochemical test results show that he also has chronic renal insufficiency, with a Cr value of 221umol /L, which is the long-term development of hypertension, did not cause sufficient attention to young people, and caused serious complications of hypertension cerebrovascular disease and kidney disease, regret too late!

Although hypertension is a common disease, but because this disease is a vascular disease, the whole body where the arterial blood vessels to the blood pressure, and therefore hypertension is a systemic disease.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, the number of cardiovascular deaths worldwide in 2012 was 17 million, accounting for 46% of chronic disease deaths, including 9.4 million deaths from hypertension complications, which has become the primary risk factor affecting the global burden of disease. Among the internationally recognized risk factors for chronic diseases, hypertension occupies an important position, and the danger of hypertension is evident.
However, the awareness rate of hypertension in China is very low, accounting for 46.5% of the diseased population in 2012, few people know they have hypertension, and the treatment and control rates are even lower. Currently, about 130 million hypertensive patients in China do not know they have hypertension, and among those who are known to have hypertension, about 30 million are not treated; among those who receive antihypertensive treatment, 75% of patients’ blood pressure does not achieve control goals (Chinese hypertension clinical guideline data), which is frightening.

Meanwhile, the youthfulness of hypertension has accelerated in recent years, and hypertension is spreading to young people and even minors due to unreasonable dietary structure, accelerated pace of life, and poor living habits. Young people think that hypertension, cerebral thrombosis and cerebral hemorrhage are the “patent” of the elderly, so they do not care about hypertension, which causes serious consequences, so we should not take it lightly.

According to the guidelines, China’s population monitoring data show that cardiovascular deaths account for more than 40% of total deaths, of which hypertension is the first risk factor, and at least half of the 3 million cardiovascular deaths each year are related to hypertension. Therefore, we must control our blood pressure and take antihypertensive drugs on time.
For the well-being of yourself and your family, please young people pay attention to your blood pressure!
