Other patients jump to the conclusion that their case is not suitable for radiotherapy without a full understanding of the radiotherapy equipment. In fact, the effect of modern precision radiotherapy can be as effective as that of surgery, or even higher, more painless and faster recovery. Tumors that used to be poorly treated by surgery can now choose radiotherapy, while tumors that used to be well treated by surgery, combined with radiotherapy, can also kill tumors more thoroughly and reduce the recurrence rate. Firstly, radiotherapy has very little effect on blood vessels. Those blood vessels that are invaded by tumors are difficult to be removed, and radiotherapy has obvious advantages. Secondly, radiotherapy is less restrictive to the site, so tumors in important functional organs and inoperable and very restricted areas can also be treated. Radiation therapy requires less physical condition, while it is not possible to operate on poor lung function, heart disease, or weak constitution. From the current large amount of clinical data, except for tumors in the intestinal area which should not be the first choice, all other choices can be made according to the situation. However, it requires professional radiation oncologists to make judgment based on the site and stage of tumor, the patient’s whole body status, the own status of the organ that grows tumor and the patient’s good or bad choice of surgery, and to formulate the most suitable individualized treatment plan for the patient. It is understandable that patients think radiation can cause cancer. However, the fact is that radiation causes cancer is a long-term process, which means that only long-term exposure to radiation can cause cancer. When you have a tumor and receive radiotherapy, it is done in multiple sessions. Moreover, professional radiotherapy equipment operated by professional radiotherapists will only kill the tumor precisely and will not cause extensive injuries to other body tissues. Now it seems that even lung cancer, esophageal cancer and prostate cancer, which were previously considered difficult to be cured by radiotherapy, are now able to achieve very good results with the transformation of conventional radiotherapy to precision radiotherapy and the emergence of new generation radiotherapy equipment such as TOMO. In the future, with the development of technology, not only those patients with old age, poor physical condition, diabetes and poor heart and lung function can take radiotherapy as their first choice, but also general tumor patients can take radiotherapy as their first choice to improve the cure rate of tumors. It should be noted that the choice of treatment should not be uniform. Nowadays, the individualization of cancer treatment options has exceeded the conventional ones, so there is no designation of which one is the first choice, but still the choice should be made according to the patient’s condition.
