The storage time of Chinese herbs is related to the state of the herbs and cannot be generalized. Ordinary Chinese herbs, placed in an environment with reasonable temperature and humidity, can be kept for more than 1 year, and some herbs, for several years. Chinese herbs should be taken promptly after decoction. If they are left in the air for too long, they will denature and lose their medicinal effects, and may even harbor bacteria, which can lead to gastrointestinal bacterial infections after consumption; if Chinese herbs are vacuum-packed and placed in the refrigerator after decoction, they can be stored for 1-2 weeks. In addition, for longer storage, they can be made into pills, which can be kept for a longer period of time. Chinese herbal medicines should be made and taken immediately. It is generally not recommended to take herbal soup solution overnight, even if it is placed in the refrigerator freezer for more than 3 days to avoid deterioration of the solution, which may affect health.
