Paralysis, also known as “paralysis”, “paralysis evidence”, “rheumatism”, is a disease characterized by a lack of vital energy in the human body and the attack of external evil such as wind, cold, dampness and heat (also caused by internal phlegm, stasis and heat toxins), resulting in pain, heaviness, numbness, swelling, unfavorable flexion and extension of the limbs, or even involving the internal organs. It is a general term for a group of illnesses characterized by pain, heaviness, numbness, swelling, unfavorable flexion and extension, or even joint deformation, or involvement of the internal organs. Paralysis includes almost all kinds of joint diseases referred to in modern medicine, especially rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis, osteoarthritis and other diseases of the rheumatic immune system. Their arthropathy symptoms are very similar to the clinical manifestations of paralysis. In this paper, we discuss the role of volatile evil in the pathogenesis of paralysis from the perspective of the doctrine of volatile evil in combination with modern knowledge of immunology. In this paper, we discuss the mechanism of voodoo in the development of paralysis from the perspective of the theory of voodoo. The so-called paralysis, each with its time heavy feeling in the wind, cold and wet gas also.” This has been recognized by medical practitioners for generations, but the understanding of its pathogenesis is a matter of opinion. Many physicians (there is still a chapter on paralysis in the current planning textbook “Internal Medicine of Chinese Medicine”) believe that paralysis is caused by external evil attacking the body, blocking the meridians and channels, and the poor flow of qi and blood. Although it is known that the external sensation is weak, the treatment is to dispel the evil and support the righteousness, always with the method of dispelling wind, removing dampness, dispersing cold, clearing heat, replenishing qi, nourishing blood, and replenishing fire, but the effect is not obvious, why? Cover the attacker outside the evil, the same; and the path of the pathogenesis, also different. Therefore, there are later theories of the onset of volatile evil. For example, the “new book of voodoo” of Qing Liu Jiren: “feeling the six perversions and not immediately sick, after the onset of the party, is always called voodoo.” According to the theory of the previous people, all external sensations of the six evil spirits, after invading the human body to hide in the internal, not immediately onset, after a period of time before the appearance of symptoms, are called volatile evil (or volatile gas). The paralysis caused by voodoo is called voodoo paralysis, also called voodoo paralysis. 1, the origin of the theory of paralysis caused by volatile evil originated from the “Nei Jing”. The “Spiritual Pivot” said: “The teacher said that the evil of the evil of the wind is also hurt, people are sick, now there is not away from the shield, not out of the room point, suddenly sick, not must be away from the evil of the wind, the reason why also? Qibo said: this have been injured in the dampness, hidden in the blood, between the flesh, long stay and do not go; if there is a fall, bad blood within and do not go. Suddenly joy and anger, diet, cold and temperature from time to time, the couples closed and not pass. Its open and meet the wind and cold, the blood condensation, and the old evil attack, it is cold paralysis.” Here the old evil (that is, the original “hidden in the blood, between the flesh” of “dampness”) can be seen as the source of the doctrine of volatile evil. It is widely believed that this is the first time in the Nei Jing that the evil in the body causes disease. On the contrary, if there is no volatile evil in the body, it cannot be paralysis. In the Su Wen (Treatise on Paralysis), it is said: “The Qi of Rong Wei is also paralyzing. If you go against the Qi, you will be sick, but if you go from the Qi, you will be cured. It is not a paralysis because it is not combined with wind, cold and dampness.” This means that when the body’s Ying and Wei function normally, the body’s immune function is normal and paralysis cannot occur. But when “true qi cannot be circumscribed”, then paralysis will occur. The Suwen Paralysis Theory says: “The so-called paralysis is caused by the wind, cold and dampness at the same time.” Here the “time”, both the meaning of the season, but also for the body in a functional state, that is, the body’s immune function is not normal, the “heavy feeling” and “so the evil attack” and for Paralysis. This article also says: “Food and drink are the basis of the disease.” It is said that diet and environmental factors can cause the evil to lie in the body, waiting for the opportunity to develop. From the above, it can be seen that the Nei Jing has a profound discussion on the causes of viciousness and viciousness causing paralysis, which is the theoretical source for later medical doctors to discuss and treat paralysis. Later generations of physicians have continued to enrich and improve the theory of paralysis, based on the idea of voodoo in the Nei Jing. For example, the “Jin Kui Wing” pointed out that “the so-called Yang is met with Yin, the internal organs and meridians first have stored heat, and then encounter wind and cold gas guest of the heat for cold, gas can not pass, long cold also into heat,. 2, the scope and classification of volatile evil volatile evil has a narrow sense and a broad sense of the points. Narrow sense voodoo refers to voodoo temperature disease, that is, the external evil invasion of the human body, the right qi is bound, can not hold the evil out, so that the evil can be voodoo, or voodoo in the membrane, or voodoo in the muscle coup, or voodoo in the muscle nucleus, or voodoo in the lipid membrane, over time and hair. In a broad sense, voodoo refers to all the voodoo that does not immediately develop, referring to both the seven emotions, dietary disorders, phlegm, blood stasis, internal toxins and other intrinsic pathogenic factors, the internal organs have voodoo, also including voodoo temperature disease. For example, Wang Yanchang’s “Wang’s Medical Cun” in the Qing Dynasty said, “All the diseases of voodoo are found in six kinds of diseases, such as perversion, all kinds of depression, diet, blood stasis, phlegm, accumulated gas, water storage, and all kinds of worms.” As the evil has not yet exceeded the body’s own regulation range, it does not develop immediately, but is hidden inside, or triggered by the feeling of the six evil spirits, or touched by the seven emotions, dietary disorders, labor and rest disorders, and so on, and then attacks again, or further aggravates, or causes other diseases. The viciousness is not only due to external sensation, but also due to internal injuries: for example, after treatment of internal injuries, the disease is under control, but the evil is not removed and the disease lurks, which can lead to other diseases. Or some internal injury diseases are treated and clinically cured, but the cause of the disease is not completely eliminated, so that the residual evil lurks and recurs when triggered. As Liu Jiren’s “New Book of Evil” says, “Those who feel six kinds of lust and have an attack are called injured in the lighter cases and in the heavier ones. Those who feel the six perversions and do not get sick, but develop afterwards, are always called voodoo. Those who have already developed but can not be treated, the disease is hidden, is also called voodoo. There is the first feeling can not be treated, the righteousness of internal injury, the evil within the trapped, temporary false healing, and later still author, is also called voodoo. There has been cured, but failed to get rid of the root of the disease, the legacy of the evil within the ambush, and then recurrence, is also said to be voodoo.” There may still be some patients who have inherited the evil poison from their parents, which is hidden in the body and induced by time. In addition, due to different innate endowments and dysfunction of the five viscera, self-generated toxins gradually accumulate in the body and develop when they are encountered, etc. 3, voodoo to paralysis and modern medicine link Modern medicine believes that many rheumatic immune diseases, in addition to external factors (such as pathogenic microbial infections, mechanical factors such as trauma), and internal factors (such as human leukocyte antigens, immune dysfunction, metabolic disorders, genetic factors, etc.) have a closer relationship. In the “Su Wen Shu Chuan – Theory of Stabbing”, it is emphasized that “if the righteousness exists within, the evil cannot dry up”, where the righteousness, from the perspective of modern medicine, is another way of saying that the human body functions normally and is in a healthy state. If the body functions abnormally, pathologies will arise. Immune dysfunction is the pathology of many rheumatic immune diseases. This immune dysfunction, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, has great similarities with volatile evil causing disease. For example, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, dry syndrome, and immune complexes and autoantibody formation and production have an important role. These immune complexes and autoantibodies are not present in the body itself, but are produced and appear only when stimulated by foreign antigens (such as pathogenic microorganisms) or some self-antigens. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, these immune complexes and autoantibodies can be classified as “voodoo”, and the mechanism of their onset is similar to that of voodoo induced by external evil. Furthermore, gouty arthritis caused by metabolic disorders such as gout is closely related to abnormal purine metabolism leading to urate crystallization and deposition in the body. These increased uric acid salts in the body are the pathological basis for recurrent gout attacks, and are prone to recurrence of gout when triggered by factors such as alcohol consumption, high protein diet, foot sprain, cold, or infection. These increased blood uric acid can also be attributed to the category of “volatile evil”, which usually vanish without occurring, but when triggered, it leads to redness, swelling and heat pain in the joints of the toes and other joints, forming paralysis, as stated in the “Treatise on the Origin of Diseases”, “heat and poison gas from the internal organs, attacking the hands and feet, and the hands and feet are {hot, red, swollen and painful. ” There are also genetic factors, which can be better explained from the perspective of voodoo causing paralysis. For example, seronegative spondyloarthropathy is significantly associated with the genetic gene HLA-B27, suggesting that the pathogenesis of the disease may be closely related to genetic factors. This is similar to some patients who have inherited congenital evil toxins from their parents, which are hidden in the body and induced over time. In addition, there are some patients such as psoriatic arthritis and scleroderma who are born with different endowments and have dysfunction of the five viscera, which generate toxins from their own qi and gradually accumulate in their bodies, and then develop when they encounter them. 4. The characteristics of paralysis caused by voodoo are: (1) The disease develops from within because of the internal voodoo of evil Qi. The initial onset is mostly based on internal evidence, or only internal evidence without surface evidence. For example, paralysis may cause joint pain in the presence of wind, cold and rain, but there is no superficial evidence of malignant cold, and even if there is superficial evidence, it is light and short. (2) The effect of treatment is different for the same paralysis caused by volatile evil. The first thing you need to do is to get rid of the problem. The majority of patients with paralysis have recurring illnesses that are difficult to heal, with varying lengths of illness, and many of them are “cured” for the first time and then relapse. The doctrine of paralysis caused by volatile evil originates from the Nei Jing and has been refined by later generations of doctors. The common features of paralysis can be found in the intricate changes. This common feature is that the body can be triggered by some cause (external or internal) and produce “volatile evil (e.g., immune complexes, autoantibodies, increased blood uric acid, etc.),” and this “volatile evil” is the important reason for the creation, development, transformation, and recurrence of paralysis. This is one of the most important reasons for the creation, development, transformation and recurrence of paralysis.
