About anesthesia and intelligence

Will anesthesia affect the intelligence of the pediatrician? 1, to analyze whether anesthesia will have a lack of oxygen to the brain, slightly older children can cooperate with the anesthesiologist for partial anesthesia. This anesthesia is conscious during the whole process. Therefore, there is no effect on intelligence. 2. It is general anesthesia. During the operation, the anesthesiologist has to keep adding additional anesthetic drugs to the person undergoing the operation according to the needs of the operation. When the surgery is over, the anesthesia medicine is also discontinued. The function of general anesthesia is to block the transmission of pain to the brain and temporarily suppress the consciousness of the child. During the operation, the anesthesia machine can display various vital indicators and closely monitor the blood supply to the brain, heart, kidneys and other important organs without affecting the respiratory and circulatory functions and without causing cerebral hypoxia. 3.Anesthesia is a reversible process. With the discontinuation of anesthetic drugs, the anesthetic drugs will gradually metabolize and disappear, and the child will gradually wake up and return to normal, just like waking up from a sleep. Therefore, unless there is an anesthetic accident, general anesthesia will not have an adverse effect on the child’s intellectual development. After receiving anesthesia, children have normal memory and their academic performance does not decrease, so parents’ concerns about anesthesia are unnecessary.
