ET is a tube that connects the middle ear to the nasopharynx and has the function of regulating middle ear pressure, draining middle ear secretions and preventing reflux, ET dysfunction is a common problem in ENT and can lead to various ear diseases such as secretory otitis media, acute and chronic suppurative otitis media, cholesteatoma, etc. ET dysfunction is also an important cause of middle ear surgery failure. Therefore, it is of great importance to correct ET dysfunction. Zhongzhen, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Peking University First Hospital New methods to correct ET dysfunction: 1. For secretory otitis media, in addition to treatment with drugs and tympanic membrane puncture during the acute stage, the Bang Ear Appropriate Middle Ear Negative Pressure Therapy Instrument (Figure 2) is also used to improve middle ear ventilation. The device provides a continuous, steady flow of air pressure to the nasal cavity, which is transmitted to the ET when the patient swallows, thus opening the ET. Due to the precise pressure control, damage to the tympanic membrane can be avoided. 2. For chronic ET dysfunction: balloon dilation of the eustachian tube (BET) has recently become a new technique for the treatment of this disease. the application of BET is simple and feasible, safe and minimally invasive, and has benefited many patients (Figure 3). For patients in whom conservative treatment has failed, BET should be performed as early as possible to unblock the eustachian tube and prevent complications.
