The symptoms of runny nose and nasal congestion are often caused by inflammatory and allergic diseases of the nasal cavity and sinuses, and patients may suffer from acute rhinitis due to cold or various respiratory viral infections. There are also symptoms of allergic rhinitis caused by exposure of the nasal mucosa to various irritating or allergenic particles in the air, resulting in nasal congestion, runny nose, often accompanied by nasal itching, sneezing and other symptoms. Patients may also suffer from sinus inflammation secondary to colds or respiratory infections, with significant nasal congestion and pus-like runny nose. This can be determined by further nasal endoscopy and imaging of the nose.
