Excessive underarm sweating is a very troubling condition in patients with perennial underarm sweating or with excessive sweating of the hands and feet. The cause is the abnormal activity of the nerves that govern the sweat glands. Common manifestations 1. dampness in the armpits, which is quickly restored after washing; 2. odor (sweaty smell, excluding armpit odor); 3. wetness or staining of underarm underwear. Impact 1.Self-perception abnormal: underarm sticky; 2.Sometimes misdiagnosed as armpit odor, affecting normal social interaction; 3.Clothes need to be changed daily or multiple times; 4.Psychological stress. Treatment 1.Surgery to release the nerves innervating the sweat glands (difficult and risky); 2.Surgery to remove the subcutaneous sweat glands in the axilla (large and small sweat glands: easy to remain, postoperative scars); 3.Botulinum toxin subcutaneous injection to paralyze the nerves innervating the sweat glands (easy to operate, fast-acting, no surgical risks, but a treatment is valid for about 4-6 months and can be repeated).
