What is the timing of blood lipase elevation in acute pancreatitis

The time of elevation of blood lipase in patients with acute pancreatitis is relatively fast, usually around 2 hours after abdominal pain, blood lipase may be significantly elevated when blood is drawn for examination, blood amylase is elevated around 6 hours after abdominal pain, and urinary amylase may be elevated around 12 hours after abdominal pain. Relatively speaking, blood lipase is a sensitive indicator of pancreatitis. After pancreatitis occurs, the pancreas is generally in the process of self-digestion, and edema and swelling of the pancreas lead to activation of pancreatic enzymes inside the pancreas, so the indicators of lipase and amylase will be elevated when patients have their blood drawn for examination. In general, the indicators are more than 3 times the upper limit of the normal value and the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis can be made only after CT examination of the pancreas.
