Can gallbladder carcinoma in situ recur after removal?

Gallbladder carcinoma in situ may recur after surgical removal, but the chance of recurrence is relatively low, patients need not worry too much, as long as they follow up regularly. Gallbladder cancer is a kind of malignant disease with high mortality rate and short survival period. For patients with gallbladder carcinoma in situ in the early stage of the disease, they can be treated by standard radical cholecystectomy to completely remove the tumor lesions and cure the disease. However, even if gallbladder carcinoma in situ can be cured after resection, the disease may recur. Any malignant tumor may recur after treatment, and gallbladder carcinoma in situ is certainly no exception. Therefore, even if patients of carcinoma in situ of gallbladder are cured after surgery to remove the lesion, they still need to do all-around protection work after surgery, and should be treated as early as possible once they find the disease recurring.
