The asthma point is located 0.5 inch below the seventh spinous process of the cervical spine. The seventh eminence, the most prominent bone in the back of the neck when the head is lowered, is recessed below the large vertebrae point, which is 0.5 inch next to the width of a finger, and there is one asthma point on each side. The corresponding anatomical location of the asthma points is in the trapezius, rhomboid, cephalicus, and longest cephalic muscles. The main function of the acupuncture points is to stop coughing and calm asthma, and can also be used for treating drop pillows and shoulder and back pain. Acupuncture is usually used to relieve throat symptoms such as sore throat, dry throat, itchy throat, and neck diseases such as cervical spondylosis, pillow, frozen shoulder, and asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Moxibustion at this point can also play a similar role to acupuncture. Cupping is usually done with the adjacent Dazhi point to clear heat, calm asthma, and refresh the mind. Although it has a unique effect on cough and shoulder pain, it should be treated with a combination of Chinese and Western medicine under the guidance of a doctor to avoid muscle damage and other negative consequences.
