Thyroiditis can be further subdivided into different types. There are some thyroiditis that can heal on its own and some that cannot. In subacute thyroiditis, most of them can recover as early as possible after the hyperthyroid and hypothyroid phases and do not require additional special treatment. Suppurative thyroiditis, on the other hand, requires aggressive treatment with antibacterial drugs. In Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, special treatment is given depending on the stage of the disease. In hyperthyroidism, antihyperthyroidism treatment is indicated, while in hypothyroidism, thyroxine supplementation is indicated. In conclusion, the subsequent treatment of thyroiditis should be decided according to the specific type of thyroiditis and should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.
