The Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Oncology Branch proposes the theory of one-third of tumor treatment, that is, one-third of tumor patients are scared to death, one-third of tumor patients are killed by excessive medical treatment (mainly referring to radiotherapy and chemotherapy), and the other one-third are cured or live with tumor for a long time after reasonable treatment. In today’s society, due to environmental pollution and people’s bad living habits, tumor has become a kind of multi-morbidity and chronic disease, so we don’t need to talk about cancer anymore. In fact, many middle and late stage malignant tumors can be cured or survive with tumor for a long time after reasonable treatment. So, what is a reasonable tumor treatment? First of all, surgery is still one of the most effective methods to treat tumors. Especially for early and middle stage malignant tumors, many of them can be cured by surgery, while those with later stages need to cooperate with radiotherapy, Chinese medicine and other treatment methods, and many of them can still be cured or survive with tumor for a long time. Due to the development of comprehensive tumor treatment in recent years, the resection range of tumor surgery is significantly smaller than in the past, which can improve the quality of life of patients after surgery without affecting the curative effect. The typical example is breast cancer surgery. However, the disadvantage of surgery is that it is bound to deplete the vital energy of human body. Some experts suggest that open-heart surgery generally depletes about 30% of the vital energy of human body, and open abdominal surgery generally depletes about 20% of the vital energy of human body. For older, less fit patients, we advocate less damaging gamma knife and argon-helium knife treatment, followed by Chinese medicine treatment, which has shown its advantages in lung cancer treatment and achieved good results. Secondly, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy can have good therapeutic effect on more sensitive cancer cells, such as esophageal cancer and lung cancer, especially squamous cancer and small-cell lung cancer, which have better effect. Early radiotherapy has a large irradiation range and is more damaging to the human body, but with the development of science, it has gradually changed to radiotherapy that only targets localized tumors, such as Gamma Knife and Ar-He knife. Chemotherapy is a kind of systemic treatment, through intravenous injection of chemotherapy drugs to treat tumors, with an overall efficiency of about 40%. It is more effective for lung cancer, breast cancer, etc., especially for small cell lung cancer with higher malignancy. The disadvantages of chemotherapy are, firstly, the toxic side effects of chemotherapy such as blood cytopenia, gastrointestinal reactions, hair loss and peripheral neuropathy, and secondly, the tendency of recurrence. Combined with TCM treatment, it can reduce the toxic side effects of chemotherapy, improve its efficacy and cure rate, and prevent recurrence. This is more effective in the treatment of small cell lung cancer. The third is targeted therapy. Basically, they can be divided into two categories. One is targeted chemotherapeutic drugs, i.e. the drugs enter the body and are mainly distributed in tumor tissues to inhibit tumor growth, the representative drug is Siroda; the other is epidermal growth factor receptor antagonists, the representative drugs are Erysal and Troche. These drugs are less toxic than the traditional chemotherapy, but they are expensive and not yet covered by medical insurance in China. The fourth is interventional therapy. In other words, chemotherapeutic drugs or embolic agents are injected directly into the diseased organs through arteries to work through the tumor suppressing effect of chemotherapeutic drugs or by embolizing blood vessels and blocking blood and oxygen supply to tumor tissues. The typical interventional treatment for liver cancer, combined with Chinese medicine, has achieved good results. The fifth is endocrine therapy. That is, the method of applying depot surgery or oral endocrine drugs to treat tumors. This treatment method mainly targets tumors of reproductive system. Such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, etc. Typically, if breast cancer is estrogen and/or progesterone receptor positive, the application of endocrine therapy alone can achieve ideal results. Sixthly, Chinese medicine treatment. Chinese medicine is both an ancient and an emerging medicine. It is said to be ancient because it has a history of thousands of years in China, and it is said to be an emerging medicine because its miraculous efficacy is increasingly recognized by western medicine. In the field of tumor treatment, the main role of TCM is to adjust the balance of yin and yang of human body, improve the immunity of the body, consolidate the treatment results of western medicine such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, so that the tumor will not recur and thus achieve a cure. TCM has also shown its unique efficacy in the recovery of the body after tumor surgery, enhancing the sensitivity of radiotherapy and improving clinical symptoms. In addition, it is not uncommon for elderly tumor patients treated with TCM alone to have their tumors disappear or survive with tumors for a long time. In conclusion, tumor treatment is a kind of comprehensive treatment with multidisciplinary participation, and the specific treatment measures depend on the person and the disease. What needs to be highlighted is that many patients nowadays have the problem of over-treatment in western medicine, especially in radiotherapy, and many patients die not from the tumor itself but from the side effects of radiotherapy. This is something that needs special attention.
