Diplopia is amenable to treatment. The first step is to find the cause for etiologic treatment, such as: brain tumors, injuries, systemic diseases, and extraocular muscle problems. If the cause cannot be found, or if the etiology is not well treated, symptomatic treatment is available. Mild bilateral diplopia can be corrected by wearing a trigeminal lens, BTA injections, and in severe cases surgery may be required.
