Reflections on reflux esophagitis

Reflux esophagitis (RE) is a common gastrointestinal dysfunctional disease, and the typical symptoms associated with it are heartburn and acid reflux. The author combines clinical practice and relevant data to discuss the following aspects of thinking about reflux esophagitis. The concept of reflux esophagitis and its regression in Chinese and Western medicine is considered by Western medicine as reflux esophagitis (RE), which is a mucosal lesion of the esophagus caused by the reflux of gastric and/or duodenal contents into the esophagus, and the endoscopic manifestations are congestion, edema, erosion, and even ulceration of the esophageal mucosa, and the main clinical manifestations are acid reflux, heartburn. The main clinical manifestations are acidity and heartburn. Previously, some scholars believed that GERD as a disease spectrum, from NERD, RE, BE to esophageal adenocarcinoma, is a gradual aggravation of a disease in different stages of manifestation under the same pathogenesis. According to Chinese medicine, the connection between various disease names is scattered in medical writings, for example, medical practitioners mostly consider acid reflux and noisiness as the progression of choking and diarrhea. Western medicine believes that reflux esophagitis is caused by the reflux of gastric and duodenal contents into the esophagus, and the main cause and mechanism is the decrease of anti-reflux defense function and the increase of reflux attack on the esophageal mucosa, which increases the reflux flow and the damage of reflux. In Chinese medicine, the etiology of reflux esophagitis is, on the whole, a deficiency of the root cause and the symptoms of the disease, with most of the evidence being actual. 3, Chinese and Western medicine treatment of reflux esophagitis thinking: acid-suppressing drugs: now strong acid-suppressing drugs for the main means of Western medical internal treatment. The main is to reduce esophageal acid exposure time and play a therapeutic role. Acid-suppressing drugs are listed as first-line drugs with PPI, which can inhibit the secretion of gastric acid at the base and after stimulation in a long-lasting and efficient manner. The medication is fast-acting and relapses quickly when it is discontinued. In the treatment of reflux esophagitis, Chinese medicine mostly uses dialectical typing or basic formula plus or minus. The author has used the formula for healing the tube and protecting the membrane in clinical practice with good efficacy, and some of these patients have been taking Chinese medicine orally for a period of time, which can provide longer-term relief of symptoms, but there is a lack of observation of long courses of treatment. 4. Intervention in lifestyle and prevention of recurrence Domestic and international studies have shown that reflux esophagitis is a chronic and recurrent disease, which can be described as “once it becomes GERD, it will be permanently reduced to GERD”. It is difficult to treat GERD, especially in elderly patients, who are prone to deficiency and are prone to actuality, and it is difficult to relieve the symptoms after using warm and dry drugs. When patients eat high-fat or spicy food, it can delay gastric emptying or stimulate gastric acid secretion, therefore, patients should be advised to eat low-fat food and less spicy food. Exercise, therefore, patients need to strip smooth emotion. In this way, the symptoms can be relieved faster and relapse can be reduced. A real medical talk: about 3 years ago, there was an old gentleman because of taking Western medicine 1 year less effect still stomach esophagus fire hot feeling to the Chinese hospital, asked the author: “Dr. Zhao, I take Western medicine 1 year, serving are not want to take, come to you to take Chinese medicine, you say Chinese medicine and Western medicine which fast effect?” I believe most patients have this idea, and I believe most patients know the answer at a glance, I said, “You have been taking Western medicine for 1 year, which one do you think is faster? I said, “You have been taking Western medicine for 1 year, which one do you think is faster? Take it for 1 week first and see”. For chronic diseases, Chinese medicine and Western medicine are not necessarily that kind of fast, the key is in the symptom, for esophagitis, Western medicine works faster and relapses faster, Chinese medicine may work slowly and relapses less, please esophagitis patients are interested in the above read carefully, for the recovery and healing of the disease has some positive significance.
