Diet for fracture patients

       Early stage (1-2 weeks): During this period, the injured part is swollen, the meridians are inaccessible, and the qi and blood are blocked. The diet should be clear, lax and light, such as thin rice porridge, noodles, vegetarian buns, plus fresh milk, bananas, soy milk, honey water, etc. Avoid cold, spicy ‘greasy, fried food, such as chili, pepper, fat, fries, etc.  Patients with diabetes, hypertension and heart disease should limit the intake of salt, fat and sugar, such as eating less salted vegetables, salt-pickled products, pork, pastries, pasta and fruits with high sugar content, and supplement fish, poultry, fresh milk, soy products and green leafy vegetables in appropriate amounts.  Patients should be given a light and easily digestible diet on the day before surgery, avoid greasy food, and abstain from water 6 hours before surgery to avoid anesthesia accidents. It is advisable to eat hot milk, egg soup, thin noodles, noodle soup, etc. 4 hours after anesthesia disappears on the day after surgery, and avoid eating chili, mustard, fish, seafood, vinegar, etc.  Middle period (2-4 weeks): During this period, it is advisable to use a diet that harmonizes blood and bones, such as rib soup, black fish soup, egg noodles, red bean porridge, plus yogurt, hawthorn tea, walnuts, pears, etc.  Later stage (more than 5 weeks): At this stage, the bone scab has been generated, the diet should be nourishing Qi and blood, nourishing liver and kidney as the principle. Such as bone soup, ginseng soup, tofu soup, egg fried rice, chicken liver, pig’s feet, and jujube, cinnamon, wolfberry, carrot, kiwi, etc.
