How many years can you live if your heart gets bigger?

Survival of patients with cardiomegaly is related to the cause of the disease and its treatment. Enlargement of the left heart due to increased anterior and posterior cardiac load is common in patients with hypertension or ischemic cardiomyopathy. Patients with hypertension can have a smaller heart after treatment with active oral antihypertensive drugs to control blood pressure, with a survival period of about 20-40 years, or even longer; patients with right heart enlargement due to pulmonary circulation disorders are commonly seen in patients with pulmonary hypertension or chronic pulmonary heart disease, with a survival period of about 10-20 years after treatment with targeted drugs. Patients with enlarged heart must go to the cardiovascular medicine department of a regular hospital in time to have the cause of enlarged heart determined by a professional clinician, and actively carry out the corresponding treatment. In addition, patients are advised to pay attention to rest, and patients with combined hypertension or hyperglycemia should pay attention to a light diet and actively control blood pressure and blood sugar.
