Is the HIV 4 test accurate?

The 4-generation HIV test has a very high accuracy rate of over 99%. 4-generation testing is the detection of HIV antigens and antibodies, which can be detected in the infected person’s body about 2-3 weeks after infection, thus confirming the diagnosis. If antigens and antibodies can be detected in the patient’s body, it means that he or she may be infected with HIV, and a confirmatory test is needed to determine whether he or she is infected with HIV. The confirmatory test uses a protein blot test to detect the presence of HIV antibodies in the patient’s body. If the confirmatory test is also positive, the patient is infected with HIV and needs to be treated with antiviral therapy to suppress the virus in the patient’s body to avoid progression to the AIDS stage.
