The efficacious toothpaste can reduce the inflammatory manifestations such as red and swollen bleeding gums, and certain herbal toothpastes also have some antibacterial effect, but these products are not the fundamental treatment for bleeding gums and can only relieve the inflammatory manifestations of the gums. If the application of medicated toothpaste masks the severity of periodontal disease, gingivitis can develop into periodontitis with the risk of early tooth loss, and it is not recommended to use medication when gums are bleeding by using toothpaste as an alternative to periodontal treatment.
